Retired NASA Astronaut to Share Lessons in Workforce Management Learned Through Distinguished Career in Space Exploration
WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, recently announced that Captain Jerry Linenger, retired NASA astronaut and U.S. Navy flight surgeon, will provide the keynote address during Vision 2013, the company’s user conference aimed at helping Payroll, HR, Operations and IT professionals navigate the challenges of workforce management.
During his time aboard the Russian space station Mir, Linenger experienced one of the most dangerous space missions in history, having encountered numerous life-threatening events. In the face of repeated failure of critical life-support systems, a near collision with another spacecraft, computer malfunctions and the most severe fire aboard an orbiting spacecraft, he and his crewmates were able to accomplish all of their mission goals.
Despite being in space, the problems Linenger encountered are similar to common workforce management challenges experienced across a range of industries. From mitigating safety risks and implementing fatigue management strategies, to working with a diverse labor force and managing a team under uncertain circumstances, Linenger fully understands the many issues facing employers today. By sharing his experiences of overcoming severe difficulties in a highly complex environment, Vision 2013 attendees can gain a sense of optimism that no challenge is insurmountable when it comes to managing their workforce.
“As Jerry Linenger’s extraordinary career has shown, no matter how difficult the circumstances, the right combination of flexibility, teamwork and technology can overcome any challenge,” said Kevin Choksi, WorkForce Software’s co-founder and CEO. “We are honored to welcome Jerry as keynote speaker of Vision 2013, and we are sure that his inspirational message will resonate with our clients.”
Vision 2013 is designed to provide users of WorkForce Software’s EmpCenter suite with direct, tangible and impactful information that helps them make the most of their investment in the solution. The conference will be held at the Ritz-Carlton in Naples, Florida from Sunday, November 3 through Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
