HRchitect Tech Vendor News: CloudPay Launches Enhanced Global Payroll Reporting Functionality, CloudPay Insights

August 20, 2014

Company’s Latest Innovation Enables Businesses to Leverage Big Data to Understand Their Payroll Process, Drive Positive Results and Make Better Informed Decisions

RALEIGH, N.C. and LONDON, U.K. (August 19, 2014) CloudPay, the pioneer of SaaS-based payroll automation for multinationals, today announced details of CloudPay Insights, its enhanced global payroll reporting solution. This robust capability gives organizations the ability to leverage big data to gain greater transparency into the real-time costs associated with their workforce by digging deep into their own comprehensive, multi-country payroll data.

In today’s competitive business environment and still volatile economy, multi-national organizations must be able to respond and adapt to changing market conditions as rapidly as possible. CloudPay Insights solves this challenge by enabling companies to identify key workforce trends in their global payroll data to drive and support well-informed business strategies. Though often overlooked as a source of record, the information contained in a company’s payroll data reveals crucial statistics on the true costs of compensating employees around the globe. Given the rise of big data and the benefits of utilizing the massive amount of information now available, CloudPay gives employers the tool to drill down into this data to identify hidden costs, spot important trends and make more effective business decisions.

The need for such a solution is a pressing one. According to research from the MIT Sloan Management Review and SAS Institute, a majority of professionals reported that their organizations are under pressure from senior managers to become more data driven and analytical. Yet, only 42 percent said they frequently have access to the data they need to make key decisions. At the same time, a report from McKinsey & Company found that the three factors necessary for developing a successful data-driven strategy are: choosing the right data, the ability to predict and optimize business outcomes, and transforming the company’s capabilities. CloudPay Insights provides organizations with the tools to achieve those three aspects. As a result, companies can access real-time reporting metrics on their payroll data, enabling them to act on this information and bring immediate improvements to their payroll operations.

CloudPay Insights can be used at all levels of the organization. Senior business leaders benefit from accessing data across their global enterprise to gain a better view of profit and loss, the expenses around payroll taxes and benefit deductions, and the overall costs of doing business. The solution also gives regional and business unit leaders the insight into the costs associated with hiring for specific positions in various regions, helping to drive decisions about where talent should be placed. At the same time, HR and payroll managers and practitioners can easily access audit reports and other key data that provides tactical information about the workforce they need on a day-to-day basis.

Innovative features of CloudPay Insights include:

  • Enhanced dashboarding capabilities: Users of CloudPay Insights have the flexibility to create and customize their own reports without having to use pre-built templates, ensuring they leverage the most relevant information.
  • Improved workspace functionality: This feature allows users to create reports with relational or dimensional data sources, enabling deeper analysis, report authoring and advanced data exploration.
  • Faster performance: CloudPay Insights includes developments such as null suppression optimization and in-memory caching for performance gains, enabling users to greatly reduce the amount of time they spend creating reports.

These improvements will lead to significant benefits for CloudPay’s clients, such as:

  • Improved decision making: Stakeholders receive needed information, such as headcount, leavers and new hires per country or legal entity, in a targeted, actionable format personalized according to their areas of responsibility to support informed decisions.
  • Increased operational efficiencies: The solution eliminates the need for labor-intensive data collection, consolidation and reporting, giving users access to CloudPay’s single, unified payroll information repository.
  • Cost reductions: With better business intelligence to understand the big data available and make critical decisions, organizations can streamline their processes and reduce the costs associated with payroll.

“Although the payroll function contains significant information that can help shape business decisions, set goals and priorities and optimize workforce strategy, many companies neglect to mine this data or simply lack the tools to do so effectively,” said Andrew Pearson, CEO of CloudPay. “Necessary for effective global payroll reporting is having a common technology platform that can compile the vast stores of payroll data from across the enterprise and transform it into actionable information. CloudPay stands alone in the payroll management space as the only provider to offer a common technology platform that delivers the business intelligence to make well-informed decisions about the costs and processes of compensating their global employees.”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: WorkForce Software Reports 108 Percent Rise in SaaS Bookings, Strong Performance Through First Half of 2014

August 18, 2014

Company Reports Robust Growth as More Organizations Recognize

Benefits of EmpCenter, its Cloud Workforce Management Solution

LIVONIA, Mich. (August 12, 2014) – WorkForce Software, the leading provider of workforce management solutions for organizations with complex labor policies and stringent compliance demands, today announced details of its strong performance and robust growth achieved in the first half of 2014. During this time period, the company welcomed many new clients, received a majority investment and extended its lead in cloud-based workforce management solutions for large employers.

“WorkForce Software’s history is characterized by continued growth and improved year-over-year performance, and that trend continued through the first half of 2014,” said Kevin Choksi, CEO and co-founder of WorkForce Software. “We expanded our reach in numerous industries and formed several strategic relationships that enhance our position in a dynamic workforce management market.”

Sales Growth and Client Wins

Overall, WorkForce Software experienced substantial and sustained growth in the first six months of 2014, with total revenues up 48 percent over the same period in 2013, led by rapid adoption of EmpCenter®, the company’s enterprise workforce management suite. As a result, SaaS bookings have risen by more than double (108 percent) compared to the first half of 2013, and SaaS revenues have increased 77 percent over the same time period.

New clients represent large employers in a range of industries, including technology, healthcare, oil and gas, financial services, training and professional education, public sector and utilities. The company also had a strategic win in the European market, attracting a Switzerland-based global reinsurance company. WorkForce Software also cemented its leadership position in fatigue risk mitigation for the petrochemical industry, welcoming two new clients in this sector, a Canadian integrated energy company and a chemical company based in Louisiana.

Additional new clients added in the first half of 2014 include:

  • A national nonprofit organization committed to helping education institutions measure and improve learning outcomes
  • A global supplier of health care information technology solutions, services, devices and hardware
  • The most populous county in Illinois, providing services for more than 5 million residents
  • The eighth-largest church in the U.S.
  • One of North America’s most diversified construction companies, serving the building, heavy industrial, civil and infrastructure, mining, pipeline, power and communication sectors
  • A leading provider of semiconductor and system solutions for communications, defense and security, aerospace and industrial markets
  • A leading provider of secure portable storage solutions
  • New England’s largest utility system serving more than 3.6 million electric and natural gas customers
  • A national natural gas distributor serving over one million residential and industrial customers
  • An American natural gas utilities holding company
  • One of the oldest and largest medical providers in the Greater Cincinnati region
  • The State of Delaware, which became the second state to leverage EmpCenter across all state agencies

Industry Recognition

WorkForce Software’s rapid growth has been noticed by competitors, customers, industry analysts and the media alike. In particular, the company was recognized by Gartner as one of the four fastest growing vendors by Total ERP Software Revenue, Worldwide for 2013 outside the top 10, in the research firm’s Market Share Analysis: ERP Software, Worldwide, 2013 report, released on May 5, 2014.

Bill Kutik, leading independent analyst of the HR technology marketplace, commented, “Successful workforce management is more difficult than ever. Employers must not only have tools to automate key workforce processes like time and attendance and absence management, but also keep up with rapidly changing legislation and compliance. Many of the best-of-breed vendors, including WorkForce Software, also have critical workforce scheduling functionality, processes so large and complex that many broader HR tech vendors don’t even try to copy them in their Time & Labor modules.”

Holger Mueller, principal analyst and vice president of Constellation Research, Inc., commented, “Compliance demands, the enormous potential of cloud delivery and greater competition for top talent have led many organizations to rethink their workforce management processes. Regardless of industry, today’s organizations seek solutions that can automate key processes, such as time and attendance, absence management and scheduling, in order to remain competitive and minimize risk.”

Majority Investment

In April, WorkForce Software announced another strategic step to accelerate its next phase of growth. New York-based Insight Venture Partners assumed a majority equity position in the company, bringing substantial resources and a pedigree in cloud-based technology to the partnership with WorkForce Software. The investment and partnership with Insight Venture Partners serve to further fuel WorkForce Software’s global expansion.

Strategic Alliance

Another key to WorkForce Software’s success is its ability to partner with other organizations that extend and increase the value of its solutions and services. In May, the company announced its strategic alliance with Benefitfocus.com, a leading provider of cloud-based benefits software solutions. Through this partnership, WorkForce Software has joined the company’s app program, giving users of the Benefitfocus HR INTOUCH MARKETPLACE™ convenient access to EmpCenter.

Vision 2015

WorkForce Software recently announced details of its next user conference, Vision 2015. The event, which brings together workforce management professionals from numerous industries and countries, will be held April 19-22, 2015 at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort and Spa in Henderson, Nevada. Vision offers attendees a range of educational sessions covering crucial aspects of workforce management, including timekeeping, attendance tracking, scheduling and leave management.

Looking toward the Future

“The first half of 2014 has been quite eventful, and more large employers have recognized the value of our solutions and the expert, responsive service that you can only get from a company dedicated to workforce management,” said Choksi. “Combined with increasing industry recognition, the backing from Insight Venture Partners and an expanding partner network, this sales momentum enhances WorkForce Software’s role as a top provider of enterprise cloud solutions.”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: Comprehensive Logistics Calls on ADP® to Assemble Top-Notch Solution for its Human Capital Management Needs

August 12, 2014

World-Class Logistics Provider and Pre-Assembler, Serving Critical Role for U.S. Auto Industry, Enlists ADP Vantage HCM® to Benefit Employees

ROSELAND, N.J. – July 24, 2014ADP®, a leading global provider of Human Capital Management (HCM) solutions, today announced that Comprehensive Logistics Inc., a premier provider of highly efficient, engineered logistics services for complex supply chains, has awarded the company a contract to deliver an integrated HCM solution based on ADP Vantage HCM®.

Comprehensive Logistics, a new client to ADP, signed on for payroll, benefits, HR, and time and labor management as part of its flexible deployment of ADP Vantage HCM. The company is involved in critical “just-in-time, just-in-sequence” material flow and pre-assembly work for the U.S. auto industry, including brakes, radiators, roof assemblies, match-painted mirrors and more. Their finished products are delivered to auto manufacturers and relied upon for the timely construction of thousands of autos daily. The company also has diversified with recent moves into transportation management services and recent wins in industries outside of the automobile sector.

Stephen Halloran, director of HR for privately owned Comprehensive Logistics, said the company was drawn by ADP’s combination of technology and process expertise in making its decision.

“The service layer ADP delivers was very important to us,” said Halloran. “If we didn’t have that, we’d have to add an empire of HR professionals, and that wasn’t realistic. I wanted well-trained HR professionals and needed these people ready to hit the ground running, so if we have an issue, we can get it addressed in real time. I’ve gotten that with ADP.”

“We’re pleased that Comprehensive Logistics is trusting us with this most critical role that focuses on the people who help them succeed,” said Mark Benjamin, President of Global Enterprise Solutions at ADP. “Comprehensive Logistics plays a critical part in today’s complicated global auto industry. I’m delighted that, once again, a client as important as Comprehensive Logistics has chosen our service expertise and proven technology to help drive their success.”

Halloran said the employee mix that contributes to his company’s success required a partner with the insights and skills needed to ensure timely and efficient distribution of information – and of critical payroll. Comprehensive Logistics has a combination of hourly and managerial employees in eighteen facilities in Illinois, Kansas, Michigan, Ohio, and Ontario, Canada. The company also plans to launch new operations in Tennessee and Illinois.

“We are a fourth-generation company, with a heritage of trying to ‘do the right thing’ by our employees,” Halloran said. “So we needed a solution that made sense for the company, and for the more than 1,400 people who work here.

“With our prior vendor, we saw lots of turnover on the client-facing team and not a lot of strategic direction that helped us continuously improve,” Halloran said. “Now, with ADP, I like how we have a dedicated service team. Our ability to scale our business with ADP is great.”

Halloran said ADP’s expertise in the complicated area of compliance also contributed to his decision.

“The Affordable Care Act is a great example,” he said. “That weighed heavily on our decision, along with dependent verification service and tax credit services. A lot of arrows get fired toward my team on any given day. Now, we have the technology and expertise to bat them down with our partners.”

Halloran said the single platform and integrated solution that are part of ADP Vantage HCM also weighed into the decision. “I prefer to think that we have one hand to shake for a job well done,” he said. “ADP has become a good business partner with us.”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: HireVue Announces World’s First Data-Driven Candidate and Interviewer Recommendation Engine

August 7, 2014

HireVue Insights™ examines over 15,000 digital interview attributes to predict which candidates will become top performers and identify which interviewers make the best hiring decisions

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – July 17, 2014 – HireVue, the leading digital recruiting and talent interaction provider, today announced the first predictive candidate and interviewer recommendation engine, HireVue Insights. For the first time, companies can use the power of big data to identify their top candidates and best interviewers based on interaction, hiring and performance attributes. It helps organizations optimize their hiring model and gives talent professionals a competitive edge by reducing guesswork and helping them discover the right candidates more quickly. For candidates, it levels the playing field and gives often overlooked talent a chance.

According to the Talent Board, less than 6% of job applicants get an opportunity to interview for a position. The average position receives approximately 100 applicants, leaving 94 candidates in a black hole – often wondering where they stand and why.  Many have the skills, personality and potential to do the job but don’t get a chance to tell their story. Until now… HireVue Insights uses the power of big data and personalized digital interactions to recommend candidates based on 15,000 interaction, behavioral and performance attributes – and how they correlate to the organizations current top performers.

HireVue Iris™, a patented deep learning analytics engine that powers HireVue Insights, analyzes a unique data set of interactions, feedback and outcomes that never before existed.  Developed by HireVue’s data science team, Iris was built based on over 3 million interview responses. Each candidate interview contains 100,000 times more bytes of data than the resume or profile traditionally used for identifying job candidates. The platform examines attributes in three major categories: interview attributes, behavioral attributes, and performance attributes. Iris’s proprietary algorithms discover patterns and learn which attributes predict performance, then scores each candidate on how they compare to existing top performers.  And, similar to a batting average for hiring managers, Iris also scores interviewers based on how their historic ratings and feedback correlated with hiring and performance outcomes.

“Recruiters and hiring managers rely heavily on instincts, hunches and memory to choose the right candidates, but there isn’t a lot of data to help them predict who will become a top performer, or decide who should be interviewing candidates,” said Mark Newman, CEO of HireVue. “This could be the most important innovation in recruiting in the past 25 years. HireVue Insights analyzes over 100,000 times more data than a resume, all within the context of your organization, your positions and your feedback. It gets smarter over time to become your own personal data-driven hiring model.”

The data science team at HireVue worked closely with customers to develop and configure Insights to meet the unique needs of each company. Customers like Chipotle Mexican Grill and others are already realizing big improvements within their processes.

“Making sure we have the right people on our team is key to our success and we are always looking for tools to help us prioritize our time with the best fit candidates,” said JD Cummings, National Recruiting Consultant at Chipotle Mexican Grill.  “We are excited to be working with HireVue to help enable more informed, data-driven hiring decisions. We are optimistic that HireVue Insights will help our recruiters and hiring managers to respond quickly to top candidates and has the potential to further reduce our time to hire.”

Revenue growth over the last five years lands Talent Management leader on the PROFIT 500 list of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies

Ottawa, ON – July 2, 2014 — Canadian Business and PROFIT have named Halogen Software (TSX: HGN) to the 26th annual PROFIT 500. Published in the July issue of Canadian Business and online at PROFITguide.com, the PROFIT 500 is the definitive ranking of Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies by five-year revenue growth.

“The members of the PROFIT 500 are the elite of the country’s entrepreneurial community,” says James Cowan, Editor-in-Chief of Canadian Business and PROFIT. “Their stories are lessons in business strategy, innovation, management excellence and sheer tenacity.”

Halogen Software made the PROFIT 500 list based on revenue growth of 149 percent over the past five years. The company’s growth is driven by its established reputation for customer satisfaction with its organically built talent management suite, as well as global market demand for talent management solutions. “We are very pleased to be recognized as one of Canada’s most successful growth companies,” says Paul Loucks, President and CEO of Halogen Software. “It’s a testament to the strength of our go-to-market strategy in helping mid-market companies build world-class workforces, deliver better business results and establish talent as a lasting competitive advantage.”

(July 15, 2014) – iCIMS, Inc., a leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) talent acquisition software solutions for growing businesses, announces the release of a new research eBook, “Why Would I Want to Work for You?” After a two-part series of research eBooks focused on insights for today’s job seekers, iCIMS offers guidance for employers on how to attract the best hires by showcasing their corporate culture. A complimentary download of the eBook is now available on Hire Expectations Institute™.

“Having a well-defined company culture as part of your recruitment strategy attracts and engages people who will be a good fit for your organization,” said iCIMS Chief Marketing Officer, Susan Vitale. “Our research indicates that employee referrals account for 34% of all hires – knowing this, it is up to employers to leverage their company culture to attract the best hires, retain their top players, and encourage their ‘A’ performers to refer their friends. This research eBook highlights the elements are the most compelling to job seekers, and in particular, which workplace features attract best-fit talent.”

Through a survey of more than 400 job seekers, iCIMS collected data on which pieces of company culture are important when searching for a career match. Some of the key findings from the research eBook include:

  • Job Seekers Prefer Environments That Encourage Collaboration – Almost 50% of job seekers prefer a “clan” type of culture at their company, which is defined as a collaborative and team-oriented environment. Twenty-one percent of respondents cited a competitive atmosphere as their preferred work environment, with 19% electing to work in a culture that allows for more creative freedom. Only 11% chose a hierarchy culture, which is defined as a controlled environment.

  • Employees Want Access to Training & Development – When ranking employment perks from most important to least important, job/skills training and development was at the top of the list. Additionally, 50% of employees report insufficient career development and training from their current employers.

  • Job Seekers Want Their Manager to be Their Mentor – Over 40% of those surveyed say they want to be managed by someone who is more like a coach or a mentor. Approximately 30% prefer a hands-on manager, and 10% of job seekers like a democratic manager.

  • An Open Office Floor Plan is Preferred – Job seekers of all ages pointed to an open office floor plan as their favorite, with nearly 40% of all respondents preferring no walls or cubicles at their workplace. Thirty-four percent of people ages 18-29 cited a team office, a semi-enclosed work space for small group collaboration, as their second choice, and only 11% of people ages 30-44 prefer a cubicle floor plan.

“iCIMS is focused on providing the most innovative talent acquisition solutions, but we also know that combining the right HR technology tools with a deep understanding of what candidates want from prospective employers is key,” said Vitale. “We’re proud to provide valuable insights, such as the findings in this research eBook, and powerful solutions through iCIMS’ talent acquisition suite with Connect, Recruit, and Onboard.  iCIMS aims to improve efficiencies for growing businesses and provide the thought leadership materials they need to stay competitive in their search for best-fit talent.”
