HRchitect Tech Vendor News: Bullhorn Acquires The Code Works Inc. to Power Cloud-Based Data Integration and Intelligence

August 18, 2014

Bullhorn, the global leader in customer relationship management (CRM) software for the staffing and recruiting industries, today announced that it has acquired The Code Works Inc. – the makers of VMS Access, a cloud-based software product that integrates corporate procurement and vendor management systems (VMS) like SAP’s Fieldglass with CRM systems. VMS Access currently automates the data integration and workflow for filling job openings at over 350 of the world’s largest companies and enables staffing agencies to increase service levels, win more business, and improve productivity by reducing time-to-fill and data entry time.  As companies of all sizes migrate to SaaS-based services, Bullhorn will leverage The Code Works Inc.’s multi-national R&D team to develop integration solutions that will power new services enabling front office productivity improvements through the Bullhorn platform.

Key services offerings to be developed on the platform will include those for managed service providers (MSPs). Bullhorn currently provides client portals, candidate portals, and vendor portals to enable staffing agencies to act as MSPs or sub-vendors and operate different lines of business within Bullhorn, and the company will use The Code Works Inc.’s technology as a platform upon which to further develop technologies that enable agencies to operate and compete effectively in a world in which VMS usage is proliferating. The Code Works Inc. team’s much-valued industry knowledge in combination with considerable R&D resources from Bullhorn will help take Bullhorn’s existing MSP offering and accelerate it into an industry-leading suite of solutions to benefit staffing agencies of all sizes looking to capitalise on this rapidly-growing market.

Bullhorn acquires The Code Works Inc. as contingent labour demand is soaring thanks to increased globalisation, outsourcing, and the growing costs of hiring and retaining permanent employees. Addressing this trend, 70 percent of large buyers of temporary labour (including Fortune 500 companies) are now leveraging VMS solutions to streamline contingent workforce management. Spend flowing through VMS systems is growing at a rate of more than 20 percent per year – considerably faster than growth in overall staffing spend. The acquisition of The Code Works Inc. adds a proven, seamless integration between core recruitment system providers to enable agencies to take advantage of a market worth £24.1 billion in the UK alone.

“With this acquisition, we’re enabling companies to move their front office solutions to the cloud and to take advantage of Web-enabled services that power better decision-making and additional revenue opportunities,” said Art Papas, Founder and CEO of Bullhorn. “Bullhorn VMS Access will help drive Bullhorn’s growth in the VMS industry and beyond. This vendor neutral solution extends Bullhorn’s product portfolio and will allow us to develop new offerings to help improve customer productivity. Long-term, the Bullhorn VMS Access development team will help drive the development of Bullhorn’s data integration offerings, fundamental to our cloud-based Big Data offerings.  To drive better decision-making, companies are looking to integrate data from a variety of sources online; Bullhorn VMS Access will provide that engine for our customers.”

Jonathan Novich, Co-Founder and President of The Code Works Inc., will become Bullhorn’s new General Manager of Cloud-Based Integration Technologies. “I’m thrilled to be joining Bullhorn for several reasons,” said Novich. “First, they’re the clear market leader, so it makes good business sense to be aligned with them and to leverage their expansive resources to grow our offerings and provide better service to customers. Being a part of the Bullhorn family will enable rapid product expansion and accelerated platform development for customers of Bullhorn and The Code Works Inc. Beyond that, they have a strong vision for the future with Bullhorn providing a comprehensive set of cloud-based, front office services to help companies manage their customer relationships better. We’re excited to be part of that vision.”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: Facebook Is The Social Network Of Choice For 86% Of The Workforce, But High Mobility Job Seekers Prefer LinkedIn, Jobvite Study Shows

August 12, 2014
Jobvite’s Job Seeker Nation: Mobility In The Workforce Study analyzes job seeker behavior in the two-tiered labor market

San Mateo, Calif., July 22, 2014 — Jobvite, the comprehensive recruitment platform for the world’s fastest growing companies, today announced the results of the Job Seeker Nation: Mobility In The Workforce Study, derived from the company’s annual Job Seeker Nation Survey. Jobvite examined the defining characteristics that set job seekers apart in the two-tiered labor market and how this impacts the methods and tools they use to seek career opportunities.

The data underscores the behavior and characteristics of job seekers in an increasingly divided labor market. This divide has produced heightened demand for highly skilled workers, leaving less skilled workers with fewer opportunities for advancement and mobility within the labor market.

Notable findings include:

A tightening labor market increases demand for skilled workers.

Technology, in combination with the retirement of baby boomers, contributes to increased demand for highly skilled workers. These job seekers have the demand and skill to change jobs more frequently, giving them increased mobility within the labor market. Unlike low mobility workers, these high mobility job seekers are predominately female, college educated and actively use social media and mobile technology in their job search. They have the skills to meet the demands of increasingly competitive and technical fields, making them more optimistic in their career prospects, resulting in the flexibility to switch jobs more frequently. Alternatively, less skilled workers experience more difficulty finding advanced positions resulting in lower mobility when job searching.

Not all job searches are created equal.

Social and mobile technologies have forever changed job seeking. The Job Seeker Nation: Mobility In The Workforce Study found that 70 percent of high and low mobility workers change jobs every 1-5 years, thanks in large part to technological advancements. Regardless of education or skill set, workers never stop searching for jobs, yet the way in which high and low mobility job seekers find jobs differs significantly.

Data shows that twice as many high mobility job seekers use recruiters or social networks during their job search. These job seekers are savvier about their social media privacy and are more likely to use LinkedIn during the job search than low mobility job seekers. Low mobility job seekers prefer to use referrals and Internet job boards in addition to Facebook to find the next career opportunity. However, both tiers of the labor market find the ability to apply for jobs on a smartphone important. This emphasizes the increasing prevalence of mobile for the always-on job seeker as job shopping becomes an extension of everyday life.

High mobility job seekers are more likely to be fully employed, optimistic and open to new opportunities.

As companies struggle to find quality talent to meet demand for technical, highly skilled positions, high mobility job seekers have more choices and opportunities for advancement. Data reveals that education, skill set and demand likely contribute to job seeker’s optimism, which contributes to their increased flexibility and mobility within the labor market. Ultimately, more optimistic workers are likely to leave a company for a better opportunity.

Mobile is important to both tiers of the labor market, but not everyone uses the same tools on mobile.

The rise of social and mobile technologies has turned job seeking from an “under the radar” activity into a part of everyday life. This shift in the job seeking experience is changing how and when job seekers interact with companies and seek new career opportunities. While both high and low mobility job seekers actively use mobile in their job search, how they use mobile difference significantly; high mobility job seekers are more inclined to use LinkedIn, whereas low mobility job seekers prefer Facebook.  For today’s job seeker, mobile is an essential tool in the job hunt, regardless of skill set, education level, or market demand.

“As the economy continues to improve, a divide in the workforce is becoming increasingly apparent” said Dan Finnigan, president and CEO of Jobvite. “Demand for highly skilled, technical positions is rising, leaving less skilled workers to compete for fewer jobs with less opportunity for advancement. This signals a greater need to embrace STEM education and for job seekers to be savvier about their job search with social media and mobile technology. Combined, these factors will help bridge the gap in a fiercely competitive labor market.

  • An Open Office Floor Plan is Preferred – Job seekers of all ages pointed to an open office floor plan as their favorite, with nearly 40% of all respondents preferring no walls or cubicles at their workplace. Thirty-four percent of people ages 18-29 cited a team office, a semi-enclosed work space for small group collaboration, as their second choice, and only 11% of people ages 30-44 prefer a cubicle floor plan.

“iCIMS is focused on providing the most innovative talent acquisition solutions, but we also know that combining the right HR technology tools with a deep understanding of what candidates want from prospective employers is key,” said Vitale. “We’re proud to provide valuable insights, such as the findings in this research eBook, and powerful solutions through iCIMS’ talent acquisition suite with Connect, Recruit, and Onboard.  iCIMS aims to improve efficiencies for growing businesses and provide the thought leadership materials they need to stay competitive in their search for best-fit talent.”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: HireRight’s 2014 Health Care Report Reveals Slower Job Growth and Employers’ Common Screening Program Gaps

July 29, 2014

IRVINE, Calif., June 27, 2014 – Health care hiring is expected to increase this year, but at a slower pace than last year, according to HireRight’s Health Care Spotlight, a subset of its annual Employment Screening Benchmark Survey.

HireRight, a leading provider of global background checks, drug and health testing, and electronic Form I-9/E-Verify solutions, today announced the release of the 2014 Health Care Spotlight, which identifies screening practices, major trends in employment background checks, and common gaps in the screening programs of health care organizations.

The report indicates a slower job growth rate is anticipated in 2014 even though increased hiring will continue. While almost two-thirds of health care organizations (67%) reported they expect to hire and increase the size of their workforce this year, this is down seven percent from the 2013 report, reflecting a decreased rate of hiring.

“Patient care is the top priority for health care organizations, therefore hiring the highest quality, most reliable professionals is critical. Employment screening, professional license verifications, and federal and state sanctions checks are important steps to help improve security, provide exceptional care, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and mitigate liability risks,” said Chuck Hammel, director, account management and health care solutions lead at HireRight. “These priorities are reflected in the top benefits reported by respondents – better quality of hire, improved regulatory compliance, more consistent safety and security, better company reputation, and greater employee retention.”

The Health Care Spotlight also reveals several common screening program gaps that many health care employers may face.

  • Meeting only minimum medical sanctions checks: A significant compliance gap may occur when medical sanction checks are not performed frequently enough. Less than one-third of respondents (30%) checked lists monthly, 25% screened lists once a year, 12% checked quarterly, 4% checked less than once a year and 30% screened at other intervals. Some states are requiring more frequent sanction screening. For example, the New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General has provided updates and guidance to organizations to run monthly sanction checks on existing staff. Ongoing monitoring helps ensure organizations are notified when an individual appears on a sanction list and that they are in compliance with potential changes in the required frequency of checks.
  • Not conducting recurring screening: Less than one-third of respondents (31%) reported re-screening employees with no status change and 39% re-screen employees only when they’ve had a status change. This indicates the majority of respondents are not re-screening employees at all. This gap poses the danger of missing significant changes to criminal status, sanctions status, or other issues that may arise during an individual’s employment.
  • Neglecting drug testing: Although screening to verify licenses is required in the health care industry, drug and alcohol testing isn’t generally required by law, although some states are introducing legislation to try to change this. In fact, only 54% of respondents conduct drug and alcohol testing. As a result, nearly half of respondents may leave themselves vulnerable to increased employee absenteeism, lost productivity, and above all, risk to patients and the potential liability related to drug-related damages.
  • Forgetting to screen the non-employee workforce: Most respondents (59%) do not screen the non-employee extended workforce, including contingent or temporary workers, volunteers, and vendor representatives. A HireRight study found that extended workforce applicants were 94% more likely to have a felony record than permanent-hire applicants and approximately 50% more likely to have a misdemeanor record or drug history . A best practice for health care providers is to ensure appropriate screening of non-employee workers as well as employees.
  • Overlooking global screening: Today’s health care employment market is afflicted by a shortage of skilled staff and an intense competition for talent. It’s common for organizations to recruit applicants who have lived, been educated, and worked globally. However, only 6% of respondents indicated their organization conducts global checks to verify candidates have the foreign education and experience they claim and that they don’t have any criminal history from other countries that would cause a security and liability risk.

In addition to these common pitfalls, the Health Care Spotlight explores many other issues, including the use of social media in recruiting and screening in the medical sector, common screening challenges, how screening is integrated into talent management systems, and the frequency and process through which screening programs are reviewed and revised.

Health Care Spotlight
The Health Care Spotlight is a subset of data collected from the 2014 HireRight Employment Screening Benchmark Report, an extensive survey of talent management, human resources, and security professionals on topics related to employment screening. The Spotlight asked specific questions of the survey respondents that identified themselves as part of the health care industry. The complete report is available here.

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: TMP Worldwide and Thismoment Announce Strategic Partnership to Enhance Talent Acquisition Processes

July 22, 2014

Companies Join Forces to Help Organizations Develop

Employee Generated Content to Communicate Unique Employer Brands

NEW YORK (July 10, 2014) – TMP Worldwide Advertising & Communications, LLC, a global, tech-enabled talent acquisition company, today announced that it has entered a strategic partnership with Thismoment to offer employers a best-in-class user generated content and experience management solution to enhance their employer brands and ensure they attract right-fit talent.

As competition for qualified workers continues to increase, organizations must leverage the tools and best practices that enable them to stand out from the crowd and to be seen as an employer of choice. Through this partnership, TMP’s and Thismoment’s extensive list of joint customers will benefit from TMP’s talent acquisition expertise and TalentBrew platform, combined with the power of Thismoment’s Content Cloud experience management software to help companies showcase their unique employee experiences and improve the talent acquisition process.

The partnership will provide clients of TMP with a turnkey employee generated content (EGC) and experience tool that can be used by employees across devices to create content that conveys the organization’s employer brand authentically. The solution enables brands to improve employee engagement and permits their current workforce to participate directly in talent acquisition efforts while elevating the brand as a true innovator in the recruitment marketing space.

“What’s exciting about EGC is that it involves our employees and increases engagement,” said Chris Hong, vice president, Talent Acquisition for ESPN. “EGC allows us to tell ESPN’s true employment brand more personally and effectively through the use of employee generated photos and videos. We can showcase to an external audience, where in my early career experience, EGC was on a company intranet only and not accessible to the outside. To me, EGC is so in line with the current times, where employer transparency is the new and expected norm. I mean, who better to exemplify our employer brand than our employees themselves. Talk about being authentic!”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: FurstPerson Transforms Pre-employment Assessments with Release of FurstPerson Analytics

July 14, 2014

– Company Brings Greater Transparency to Talent Acquisition Process, Enabling Employers to Make Well-informed, Prescriptive Hiring Decisions –

CHICAGO (June 30, 2014)FurstPerson, a Chicago-based provider of talent assessment solutions, today announced the release of FurstPerson Analytics, an innovative new solution that enables companies to combine real-time performance data and candidate assessments to make better hiring decisions across the enterprise.

Although HR is the only corporate function dedicated exclusively to maximizing the value of their company’s employees, factors like inaccurate information, fragmented systems and a bevy of myths and assumptions can mask the effectiveness of talent-based processes, particularly when determining who to hire. FurstPerson Analytics solves this problem by simplifying the multitude of HR data and systems into a single, fully customizable dashboard that reveals current performance and future opportunities. As a result, HR professionals can capitalize on employment lifecycle data, make better informed workforce decisions and modify their talent strategies to drive competitive differentiation.

Designed for large-size businesses with complex hiring needs, FurstPerson Analytics provides company executives, managers and corporate recruiters with greater transparency into the pre-employment assessment process, enabling strategic talent planning and decision making.  FurstPerson Analytics can be integrated directly with the performance management system and leverages the company’s actual performance and attrition data to help companies answer critical business questions, such as which recruiting sources provide the highest quality job candidates, how the hiring process identifies top performers, how scoring model changes impact quality of hire and fill rate, and the personal qualities most strongly related to job performance.

With the release of FurstPerson Analytics, FurstPerson has transformed the assessment function, a process that has typically been relegated to spreadsheets that utilized data that could be anywhere from six months to a year old. The solution leverages real-time data to give employers instant visibility to manage the hiring process. As a result, FurstPerson Analytics enables companies to hire talented individuals based on actual data, rather than going with gut instincts or basing their decisions on outdated or irrelevant information.

Additional features of FurstPerson Analytics include:

  • Full customization: Employers can tailor the solution to meet their unique hiring needs by creating different role-based assessment scoring metrics for each job and ensuring candidates are measured against the specific skills needed for their different positions.
  • Interactive dashboards: Through robust, user-friendly dashboards and scorecards with drill-down capabilities, users gain the real-time, in-depth insight to make key talent decisions that drive their business forward.
  • Decision modeling: With the opportunity to perform what-if scenarios, employers can see what would happen if they adjust their assessment scoring criteria, such as raising the passing score, to create a smaller and more qualified candidate pool.
  • Enhanced notifications: Users of FurstPerson Analytics can easily customize data processing actions to create alerts against pre-defined targets and goals, facilitating the process of identifying right-fit talent.

“Companies continue to compete using the customer experience as a point of differentiation, which makes each hire critical to their business. As such, employers need a toolkit that creates transparency so they can understand how well their hiring processes are working,” said Jeff Furst, CEO of FurstPerson. “With the release of FurstPerson Analytics, we’re helping more organizations establish visibility into their hiring process so they can use their own performance data to make the important hiring decisions that lead to greater business success.”

“The Talent Hive fills a definite gap in the talent acquisition technology space, with a completely automated platform that seamlessly combines key aspects of the recruiting process into a simple, integrated solution,” said Jeff Russakow, CEO of Findly. “With Talent Hive, employers benefit from maintaining real-time data on their candidates, which enables them to better nurture candidate relationships, improve the candidate experience and gain access to top talent on an on-demand basis.”

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: iCIMS Releases “Start a Successful Job Hunt & Set Yourself Apart” eBook

July 9, 2014

– Leading SaaS provider introduces part one of a two-part research eBook series for today’s job seekers –

MATAWAN, N.J. (June 17, 2014) – iCIMS, Inc., a leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) talent acquisition software solutions for growing businesses, introduces the first in a two-part series of research eBooks designed to provide dynamic data insights on both job seekers and recruiters to assist today’s candidates in their job search. The first research eBook in the series, “Start a Successful Job Hunt & Set Yourself Apart: Secret Tips & Tactics for Landing Your Dream Job” is now available for complimentary download on the company’s thought leadership site, the Hire Expectations Institute.

Earlier this year, iCIMS conducted a survey of 700 job seekers and found that more than half were either actively looking for a new job or open to new opportunities. With the percentage of job creation also consistently growing since 2011, those job seekers are in a strong position to find employment, providing they approach the process strategically. By accessing the rich data available within 2,200+ customers’ use of the company’s flagship Applicant Tracking System, iCIMS Recruit, the Hire Expectations Institute research team was able to analyze more than 1.3 million jobs created in 2013 and survey more than 450 recruiting professionals to provide a better understanding of their hiring practices.

“With the steady growth of job creation in recent years, candidates are now in an ideal position to find and obtain their dream job if they go about their search in the right way,” said iCIMS Chief Marketing Officer, Susan Vitale. “The purpose of our research is to give candidates an insider’s view of the world of talent acquisition so they may tailor their approach to catch the attention of recruiters in a sea of potential candidates.”

According to iCIMS’ research eBook findings, 55% of all available jobs are not being actively advertised. This study takes an in-depth look at these “secret” jobs as well as the challenges, needs and mindset of today’s recruiting professionals to provide candidates with the information they need to unlock the hidden job market.

Below are a few excerpts from the “Start a Successful Job Hunt & Set Yourself Apart” eBook:

    • Time of Year Is Significant for a Successful Job Hunt – In addition to considering targeting industries, you may want to target the best time of year to apply. iCIMS research suggests that spring and summer are ideal seasons for the job hunt, as approximately 60% of all hires for the year are made during spring and summer months.

    • How the Company Hears About You Matters – Employee referrals are, by themselves, the most significant source of hire (34%). When you add in referrals from other sources (like customers, business partners, and other job seekers), it’s even more clear that others’ recommendations matter. This means that, if you want to get a job, you need to prioritize networking.

    • Returning to Work After Being Unemployed – 30% of recruiters agree that networking is one of the best ways for someone who has been out of work to find a new position. Additionally, 30% recommend that unemployed job seekers pursue skill development opportunities, such as continuing education.

  • What Skills Do You Have That Others Lack? – 36% of recruiters identified soft skills, such as communication and teamwork, as the most difficult to find. This means that, to improve your chances of getting a job, you may want to target opportunities to improve and demonstrate your people skills.

“In addition to this research, iCIMS develops candidate-friendly technology, such as mobile-adaptable online career sites, video screening technology, and progressive social recruiting tools, which allow job seekers to set themselves apart from the pack. Combining these insights with modern recruiting technologies will give both candidates and employers their best chance at finding the perfect match,” Vitale concluded.

iCIMS’ thought leadership site offers the latest information about industry trends and best practices for employers along with related content specific to job seekers, including the iCIMS research eBook series.

HRchitect Tech Vendor News: iCIMS Furthers its Position as the Best-to-Market Mobile Solution for Talent Acquisition

July 9, 2014

Leading SaaS provider releases new research that solidifies the importance of mobile technology in recruitment –

MATAWAN, N.J. (June 12, 2014) – iCIMS, Inc., a leading provider of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) talent acquisition software solutions for growing businesses, has announced its strengthened foothold in the market, with expanded research and development focused on mobile-optimized recruitment technologies – setting the bar for what recruiters and candidates expect from software providers in an increasingly mobile world.

iCIMS monitored the traffic of more than 200 million job seekers visiting iCIMS-hosted mobile-optimized career portals over the first five months of 2014 in order to observe their mobile behavior. The growth of mobile usage among job seekers showed a dramatic 75 percent increase during this time, reinforcing the importance of a mobile-friendly candidate experience. To date, 737,000 total candidates successfully applied via a mobile device and nearly one in five mobile job views result in moving forward during the application process. Furthermore, since the introduction of the mobile-responsive career portals within the company’s flagship product, iCIMS Recruit, the rate at which candidates viewed additional pages on a career site, increased by 55 percent.

Staying true to its best-to-market approach, today, every iCIMS customer is provided with a completely mobile-responsive candidate experience. All career portals are mobile optimized, using a responsive design technique that automatically accommodates the appropriate viewing experience whether the candidate is on a desktop, smartphone, or tablet. In addition to the device-friendly experience available, candidates can now upload their resumes or other application documents straight from their device by accessing a Google Drive or Dropbox account. Included without extra charge, the responsive design is integral to ensuring customers are able to win the war for talent in today’s mobile market.

“The rise of mobile usage by job seekers presents a new set of challenges for our customers,” said iCIMS Chief Marketing Officer Susan Vitale. “According to a recent Glassdoor survey, one in four candidates would not apply to a job if a company’s career site was not mobile optimized. Having a mobile presence today is absolutely necessary for an organization to be perceived as progressive and forward-thinking in order to attract top talent. We’re thrilled to address this for our customers – ensuring they are armed with the best tools to strategically drive their talent acquisition efforts,” concluded Vitale.
